Peaceful Waters (2016)
Prior to the birth of Ballet Folk, choreographer Deborah Norris and photographer Jez Ward collaborated to create Peaceful Waters for the Everyday People Project at Farnham Maltings, Surrey in 2016. Producer Sally Marie and Rachel Deadman created a project to explore how non-dance specialists were able to create dance works. Engaging with dancers James Finnemore and Daniel Whiley, Jez Ward explored a narrative based on real story about a hike on Snowdon and the Welsh legend of Ceridwen. Later re-staging the work for the Performing Mountains conference at Leeds University, led by Professor Jonathon Pitches, with dancers Rachael Gittins, Rocky Serg-Widdowson and Louis Ellis.
The work is illustrated in the Performance Research Journal 24:2 On Mountains (2019)
